Major ERP implementation at to satisfy WEEE demand

Manchester: Çedilla Systems, a Microsoft Gold Partner and specialist in software solutions for the waste and recycling industry, has today announced that Sims Group UK will be investing in REgenerist and Microsoft Navision in one of the largest multi-site, pan-European implementations of its kind.

Sims Group is set to be one of the biggest processors of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for IT equipment manufacturers and the channel. The forecasted increase in the amount of waste it processes will have major implications for the company’s UK business. In a bid to streamline the operation and prepare for the forthcoming legislation, the company is investing in a 105 user system, implementing Microsoft Navision and REgenerist across 35 European sites.

Graham Davy, Sims Recycling Solutions’ managing director, said: “We operate in a highly regulated and competitive market; accurate information on business processes and performance has never been more important. The work of Cedilla in implementing REgenerist and Microsoft Navision is a vital part of our strategy for future successes.”

REgenerist, powered by Microsoft Navision, has been developed specifically for the needs of the waste management and recycling industry. The integrated ERP (Enterprise Resource Management) solution will allow for increased stock visibility and provide senior management with up-to-date information and figures on recycling and financial performance at a group or site level. REgenerist will also assist Sims in complying with the reporting requirements dictated by the WEEE directive and ELV legislations.

The system will manage the company’s entire business processes from transport and collection, recycling and breakdown of parts, right through to the resale of recyclable goods or processed metals. It will also manage the financials such as invoicing, purchase orders and general ledger.

The total group implementation will cover three sites in Benelux, one site in Sweden, one in Scotland and a further 30 across England and Wales. “This is one of the largest multi-site pan European implementations of Microsoft Navision and REgenerist by a single company and is testament to the scalability and robustness of these applications,” said Jonathan Hughes, Director of the Microsoft Dynamics Partner Group.

Jason Fazackerley, Cedilla Systems’ sales director, said: “We are pleased to be working with the Sims Group, a company that leads the way in its sector in terms of innovation. Recently it independently developed innovative processes for the treatment of plastics from waste electrical equipment and cathode ray tube glass from TVs and monitors. Its IT procurement strategy is likewise equally progressive and world class. Our implementation of REgenerist and Microsoft Navision will help keep Sims at the forefront of its sector.”

Cedilla Systems is implementing REgenerist at the UK sites and partnering with Qurius, the Netherlands’ leading Microsoft Business Solutions partner, for the European roll-out.
